The Hub’s Quick Take

When most unpaved cyclists think of Raystown Lake, they think the Allegrippis Trails and mountain biking. We were no different. After riding the Trough Creek State Park/Rothrock State Forest route, the gravel and fire roads in the area will be on our to-do list each time in the area. You get a little bit of everything on this one. It is easy to miss the fact that the route is in Rothrock State Forest, as it is a bit isolated and parts of the route need to be linked together on some trafficked pavement. However, it should not deter you and is one not to miss.

The riding near John Bum Road is incredible! Gnarly, but in the all-so-great sorta way. As a highlight, put Horse Knob Fire Trail in the memory bank. This doubletrack trail has some of the coolest and most unique vegetation and terrain. It alone is worth the trip (albeit on a mountain bike or fat tire drop bar bike).

PEC’s description does a great job describing the route and the area traversed. The Friends of Trough Creek & Warriors Path keep this area beautiful.
