unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley - 2021 - Full - 125 miles

unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley – 2021 Final Course Changes

Yesterday, unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley released the final 2021 course with two changes. These changes affect the Full, Plenty, and Overnighter courses. The SOMEpaved courses are not impacted. Below is a short summary of the changes. Also included are two photo galleries. One contains shots of the course pre- and post-change with the elevation profiles and distances. The second shows closeups of the course changes.

Change #1

The first change occurs on the “Difference” and only affects the Full (and Overnighter). The reroute is at about mile 61 (60.8 to be exact) on Treaster Valley Road. Rather than continue straight on TVR, the course sends riders right on Strong Mountain Road for a short distance and then left on Old Camp Road. It is our understanding that this section is fairly gnarly. Ride with GPS describes Old Camp as “Rough Road”.

Change #2

Change number two impacts both the Plenty and Full (and Overnighter) courses. At about mile 67-68 for the Plenty and 97-98 of the Full, the course has riders skip the right onto Stony Run Road. Instead, it has riders continue on Pine Creek Hollow Road and climb the descent of Segment #2. This climb will serve as Segment #6. The course then descends Jones Mountain, taking riders down the climb from earlier in the day that was Segment #1.

Summary

Change #1 on the Full course adds some gnar, but doesn’t appear to really impact mileage or elevation (according to RWGPS). Change #2 applicable to both the Plenty and Full adds about two miles and decreases elevation by about 900 feet. The unfortunate part of the necessary Change #2 is that Hobo Vista (the site of the 2019 Salsa Chase the Chaise) won’t appear in the 2021-edition. Regardless, it should be a great day in the Susquehanna River Valley and Bald Eagle State Forest. And, that’s it for the unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley – 2021 Final Course Changes. . . .
